I have a sense of new purpose today. I now intend to devote my time to three things. Firstly, to make all ready for my move to Marina Villas next week. Secondly, to ensure that I am fully prepared for the Ex-Serviceman's Fund meeting on Thursday next.
Lastly I have been thinking about Mr Godfrey's words to me yesterday. He is right - we must all grasp our opportunities while we can. I re-read the letter that stupid boy Pike sent me and it made my blood boil. How can this country get back on its feet if we take that kind of attitude. I don't blame the boy - he is only doing the bidding of his master (though I think he might choose his words with more care). But I cannot overlook the attitude of the town clerk.
It cannot be denied that Walmington is in a terrible state - derelict, shoddy and unappealing. How can the town possibly attract holiday visitors as it currently is? And how can the residents have any pride in their town. It is not good enough and I intend to do something about it starting on Monday morning.
